Speaker 1:

You know, there's a story in scripture that I think is so interesting, but I think it speaks to us in a significant way. I want to try to share that. And, of course, if you are like always, if you listen to our show and you don't get all of the religious, spiritual aspects of the show, it's okay. I'm always going to try to break it down where you can get the point of it for you in practical terms, excuse me. So I hope that that's what you get from this, but there's a passage in Acts, chapter 9, verse 1 through 9. We'll read the whole thing today.

Speaker 1:

There's a passage in Acts, chapter 9, verse 1 through 9. We'll read the whole thing today, but essentially, there was a man named Saul who was persecuting the followers of Jesus Christ. He went to the high priest, got permission and he put in chains every man and woman that he found that was a follower of Jesus Christ or a follower of the way. He had an encounter. Long story short, he had an encounter with the light from heaven, which turns out to be Jesus Christ, of course, and he asked why you persecuted me. And bottom line is that create, the Creator, came in contact with the creation and all of his values, all of his morals, the whole system by which he lived melted all intents and purposes. Worldly authority came face to face with authentic spiritual authority and there had to be a change. Let me tell you something that preaches right there. If I ever heard anything, a message that preaches right there. You wonder why you don't have impact in your services. Or you don't have impact in your services or you don't have impact from the sermon, when you have impact in people's lives, from the worship, but it's going to impact from the teachings every week, the midweek services and all the messages and teachings going forth, why there's no impact worldly authority to come face to face with authentic spiritual authority, and when that that happens, everything changes.

Speaker 1:

Saul was ruthless. When he came face to face with the creator, with the true power, everything changed in his life forever. The influential leader became an influential leader for the kingdom, as opposed to his own purposes. He came face to face with God himself. What would happen, just talking out loud, if you came face to face with God himself? What would happen, just talking out loud, if you came face to face with the creator yourself? Do you think you can stand up with your chest out and talk about what you did and how great you did it, or would you melt in his presence? The same way, saul did Just something to think about, but he had to come to a place where he was literally blind in order for him to see. I think that's pretty deep right there. But the most powerful message in this is that a person like a Saul maybe a person just like you and lived their entire life carrying a specific belief, one day just to find out that you were headed in the wrong direction all this time. What a scary proposition to live your entire life and realize that you were going in the wrong direction the entire time.

Speaker 1:

I shared the story a while back in on other episodes uh, not sure where've shared it multiple times. Excuse me, but in the ministry that we used to be a part of the pastor's mother, we heard the story multiple times. It was so profound. But she was about 75 years old and she was serving in a church for probably about 50 years or more, probably close to 60 years, serving in a church, doing religious things like you would do in the church and in her mind those works equal salvation for her. And she was doing that. And she came to a situation I won't go into the personal detail, but she came into a situation. She came face to face with god and realized that in all of those 50, almost 60 years she wasn't fully conformed, fully persuaded in any way. She was just doing the stuff that the world say you should do, that religion say you should do. And she was doing that and she found a reformation, she found healing, she found deliverance at 75 years old and she's more blessed in her life now than she was in 60 years prior to that because she came face to face with the true authority, not the religious works, not the religious duty, but the face to face to face with the one who's supposed to be doing all this stuff for god himself.

Speaker 1:

Why am I saying all this stuff? Just a simple point for all you guys that are listening it's possible to carry a certain belief in your entire life and find that you're heading in the wrong direction all this time. Thank God for grace and redirection. Amen. Thank God for detours, because a lot of people's minds and lives have changed because of those detours. I'm a prime example of that. I was heading down a road that there was no coming back from.

Speaker 1:

Had God not turned me around, I wouldn't be here to talk to you, to be your friend on Twitter and Facebook or to be your friend in life. I wouldn't even be here for that. I would miss that part. I would miss this part of the story that we're seeing right now unfold the development of my life, in character, in training, in leadership, in discipline, in creativity, in everything that I'm doing right now. I miss it.

Speaker 1:

I did not bend for that change, but I'm saying this because there's so many areas that I wonder if we're opposing Jesus and opposing his word in our everyday life. How can you tell, how do you know you're not opposing him and his word with what you do every day? Is it priority for you that you wake up and make sure you're not carrying wrongdoing in your life? Is that important to you? Excuse me, is it important to you that every single day you wake up you make sure that you're right with your brother and you're right with your sister? Do you wake up every morning seeking out opportunities to fix, to heal, to restore, to deal with the broken stuff that you already know about, or are you still hurt in the process? See, everybody hurts. I get that. Pruning hurts. If you can feel what the plants feel. It's not good to have branches and stuff cut off. It hurts to be pruned, it hurts to be in the process.

Speaker 1:

But the tragedy to me, and the scary part, what I'm going to share about in a moment, I want to share these scriptures with you real quick. Psalm 66, verse 18, says if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me. If you carry wrongdoing in your heart, if you carry this attitude, maybe of self-righteousness or pride, you wonder why the Lord's not hearing your prayers. He's not listening to that because those things are a blockage, it's a barrier between him and you. It has to be removed so that you can receive the outcome and the harvest that you're praying for. I love Psalms 139, verse 23 and 24, one of my favorite passages in the Psalms because it's so deep and it cuts so deep and we need that in our life. Right it reads search me, god, and know my heart, test me and know my anxious thoughts, see if there's any offensive way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. How many of you are willing to pray that prayer, to ask God to search in me and take out any offensive way that's in me and lead me on the way everlasting? How many of you wake up in the morning and ask God for that? How many of you ask God to cleanse you of the wrongdoing no-transcript, to heal broken situations, to restore the desolated, waste places, to fix what's not right, what's broken? How many of you desire to do that? Or are you still hurt in the process?

Speaker 1:

One of the most tragic things I've ever seen in my life and I still see it today in certain areas preferably not in my own life, but I see it in a lot of different areas People who have been abused or people who have been considered unloved or excluded from their family. You know the so-called black sheep of the family. Those people are for some strange reason, for reasons I don't fully understand myself. Those are the ones that create clubs and cliques and groups and circles where they keep people out, where they exclude people. But you grew up excluded. You grew up feeling the pain of being isolated, not being wanted or loved by other people in your assessment. So you create a group or a club where you do the same thing to somebody else. That's one of the biggest tragedies I've ever seen in my entire life. But it's happening.

Speaker 1:

People are hurt in the process. Why do I say that? Because you're still in the process of being healed. You're still in the process of being a whole. As long as you're breathing and you still live and you have breath in your body, that means God's not done with you and you're still in the process. But you're hurt in the process. How do you deal with that? You got to go to the same one that Saul had to face, come face to face with and deal with, and you saw that his life, his values, his morals changed dramatically when he came face to face with the master. If you're in the process, you need to come face to face with the master, not tomorrow or next week or next month, maybe next year, but now, while you have the opportunity, while you have the chance, because you're hurting and what you end up doing, inevitably that you hurt other people as well. So you're leaving a wake of destruction behind you, bodies behind you, people whose lives you smashed because you didn't value them or you didn't care about yourself, or you didn't care about them. It didn't matter to you about fixing and healing and restoring the broken. It didn't matter to you about being in right standing with your brother and sister in Christ. It didn't matter to you about who said what and how. You smashed them and brought up personal stuff and destroyed them so that you feel good about you, but you destroy them.

Speaker 1:

This goes deeper than we can go in the episode, but I want you to be thinking about that. How do you know if you're opposing Jesus? How do you know if you're opposing the word of God or the kind of life that you lead? What does his word say? If you want to know if you're opposing him or not? If you want to know if you're opposing his word. Say If you want to know if you're opposing him or not. If you want to know if you're opposing his word, what does his word say about what you do, about who you are, about the kind of lifestyle that you lead? If you don't see a match, then you can bet that you're in opposition to him. If you see a match, you know that you're in a place where he wants you to be. It's not hard, but at the same time, it's not simple.

Speaker 1:
