Speaker 1:

Thank you, welcome back to the All Purpose Pod for an all-purpose life. Wherever you are and however you're listening to me, call me Mr you and the Inspiration Station. Thank you again for making us part of your week. We're honored to be back with you, back in the box again to talk about something that we hope is inspiring and life-changing for you. There are a lot of podcasts out here. You can find almost practically anything you want, but we hope that you are looking for us. We hope that we have something that you desire to hear in your ears and in your eye gates. So we thank you for watching. Thank you for listening and supporting our show, hearing great things from you guys. Overall, I'm pretty excited about what we're hearing and what's going on and what's being put out to you. So thanks again for what you're doing here. I laugh because I got a person I was in network with probably about two years ago and he loved the idea of one of our mottos. If you will, one of our anthems is that we are weekly mirror check before you go change the world. Even the picture behind me kind of gets into that inspiration for some of that too, about the weekly mirror check before you change the world. It wasn't just a catchphrase, it wasn't just something that I thought would sound cool. I think it does sound cool, but I think it's more important than that and our podcast is supposed to be at least, that's what my goal was from the beginning was to promote thought, to have us self-evaluate, to self-assess, to look within and make sure things is right. And, if it's not, maybe somebody that we can trust as a mentor or a coach or a good friend to us, that has our best interest at heart, kind of, can help us see what we don't see and begin to address themselves, so that, at the end of the day, we can be the best version of ourselves that we need to be for the world around us, for our families and for ourselves. So we hope that that's what your weekly mirror check before you change the world accomplishes in your life. So thanks again for listening to the Inspiration Station. We hope that's making an impact where you are and where you are and who you are. But we thank you again for this. And we're talking about maturity today. I know it's a constant topic, but when you look around us, the opportunities are vast and we need maturity in every level.

Speaker 1:

There is a, an Arian scripture that I love talking about where Jesus was walking with his disciples and he saw a fig tree. Now, how do you know? It was a fig tree? Likely because of the leaves, but that was all that was on the tree was the leaves and no actual fruit. The season was right for it, but there was no fruit there. The season was perfect for fruit. It should have been there to provide, but there weren't.

Speaker 1:

Another concept and a mindset that I learned this somewhat in culinary school, but I learned it also a lot since then. I studied a lot about the oil and olives and the anointing. It uses too much of the Christian vernacular that I want to dig into some more and I realized something that I didn't know before that olives cannot be picked. If you pick an apple or a fig, you can't pick an olive. If you pick it, there are certain toxins. You can't pick an olive. If you pick it, there are certain toxins that are deadly to the human body that will be released if you pick it before it's time. The only way the olive can be dislodged from its branch system or root system is to be shaken. That's going to preach. I'll tell you right there. It's going to preach, but the olive has to be shaken and when it falls off that means it is time. If it's picked before that, that means it's being picked before it's time. And in life, as well as in agriculture, some things taken before their time can be hazardous to us. They may taste bad, it may be bitter to our bellies or, in this case, with the olive, it could be downright poisonous. It's poisonous for us to move before we're scheduled to move. I know people who want to be a preacher so bad. They want to have control of the entire audience and have anybody listen to them, because in their personal lives no one care what they thought, no one gave them any attention. So now to get a chance to be able to command that audience in the congregation, in the sanctuary and also online, and and they want to be on that platform before they're ready to do that, they want to be the place that their character can hold them.

Speaker 1:

And when it comes to fruit, same context. When it comes to fruit, we so often don't have the fullness or the flavor and the taste that we are supposed to have Apple, orange, grapes or even olives. There's a flavor profile. It's only developed with time. You can try to rush it and push it. I know people are in labs right now trying to do that right now and feed us that junk. But naturally speaking, there's a timing to get the maximum flavor from whatever the fruit is, whether it be an apple or a fig, or orange or olive or tomato. There's maximum flavor that comes from waiting.

Speaker 1:

You're best when you're in your right position, in your right timing. All that you work hard to do over the years means nothing if you're outside of your timing. When you're in the right timing, everything you waited for, everything you hoped for, everything you prayed for, everything that you grew through is going to produce a level of flavor, a level of anointing, a level of authority, a level of influence you could never get by yourself or trying to rush the process. So I encourage you guys who are thinking about stepping into an area because it feels good, it looks good or somebody thinks you should be doing it be careful of the timing. Take care to take the right time before you move into that area. We don't realize our full potential can be rendered irrelevant because we try to skip necessary steps.

Speaker 1:

People want to preach before they even have the humility to clean floors, set up chairs, to cut grass, to clean toilets Very common back in the I wouldn't say the early days, but I would say 30, 40, maybe even 60 years ago in the Christian church, before you can preach or do anything as a leader in the ministries. In those cases, especially in the black church, you're going to learn humility. You're going to walk through discipleship. You're going to learn what it means to take care of that building. Take care of the responsibilities there. You're going to learn what it means to love and care for the people. Take care of the responsibilities there. You're going to learn what it means to love and care for the people. You're going to be cool doing the road, doing house visits and taking care of the people before you even get to the place where you get onto the platform or the pulpit. That's been lost.

Speaker 1:

Nowadays People want to be CEOs and make $100,000 a year, but they're late to work at a job that pays them $17 an hour. They want to be in places that their character can't hold them. It's kind of sad. Everybody doesn't want to go. This is just a thought here, because I think this is important. Everybody doesn't want to go where you're going, everybody can't go where you're going to go. They don't even want to go where you're going to go. They don't even want to go where you're going.

Speaker 1:

And we've got to be mature enough as leaders to know that the people around us they might have a lot of leaves and they're probably known for what that tree is supposed to be, but they don't have any fruit to show for it. They can't find one person that says you know what? This person being moving to this area is validated by the fruit that they've borne before they got to the area, before they were elevated. A lot of people don't have that. We got to learn to keep growing and take the time to develop that flavor, that profile, that taste, that ability, that influence inside of us. Learn from the mistakes. Don't repeat them. Seek wisdom, use the wisdom that we find, keep growing, take the time we need to learn how to get ripe with character and get ripe with experience, uphold the standard that's been set and be progressively growing, adding on to that learning, not trying to rush to the next level and trying to strive to get to this place because it has more influence and it has more spotlight.

Speaker 1:

It's time for us to start inspecting some fruit. We talk about being a weekly mirror check before you change the world, because we need to inspect the fruit. We call ourselves an orange tree, but if I look at you and I see apples, that's not judgment. You may say that because you're uncomfortable with me looking at you and calling into question what you're saying to me, but if you call yourself an orange tree where all I see is apples, that's not judgment. That's me inspecting the fruit and seeing that you're not what you say you are. You should be doing the same so that I don't have to Judge lest you not be judged. Look at yourself, look at where you are. Inspect your own fruit. If you're not where you need to be, get into position to where you need to be.

Speaker 1:

Honestly, as leaders, we have some tough questions and some tough acts ahead of us. Are you okay and this is a tough one. This may burn a little bit, but think about this If you're over an organization, if you're over some kind of mission or some kind of group or team project, or you are a leader in some level of community, ask yourself this question Are you okay with moving on from a tree that has an abundance of leaves but has no fruit. Are you okay with moving on? Jesus actually cursed a fig tree that it grew no more. I'm not saying do that as a specific circumstance, but I'm asking you a question today Are you okay with moving on from a tree that has an abundance of leaves but has no fruit? In the gardening world and my wife and I are very, very familiar with this We've done it okay with moving on from a tree that has an abundance of leaves but has no fruit In the gardening world, and my wife and I are very, very familiar with this. We've done it multiple times over the years and we have to learn.

Speaker 1:

It's not hard to get married to the seeds that we started, to the seeds that we planted. We put it up in the ground and we have high expectations and sometimes a lot of them grow. But, as you know, every seed, every seed, doesn't grow. You can put down ten, but only seven to grow. It happens all the time. Happens to farmers, legit farmers, whose lifestyles depend on this, whose families depend on this, and they'll tell you you really gonna get ten out of ten seeds. So it's not hard to get married to the seeds that we plant. The original reason why we put somebody in this position, or we elevated them to this place or we trusted them on this level. It's not hard to be married to that, it's easy.

Speaker 1:

But the question is, how long will you wait to see fruit? How long will you wait? Can you afford to wait for a certain amount of time? Any fruit that's worth its while, any fruit that's worth its while, waits until the time is right, until it maximizes its flavor, maximizes its flavor profile, before they're ready to be picked or chosen. Just something to think about. Drop your questions in the comments section. Sorry I went on so long but I had to get this out. But hope this is all landing well for you. But thanks for listening.
