They Call Me Mista Yu
The Five Facets of Health - Which One Are You Neglecting?
Hey, Friends and Family.
Even in the months of the podcast season when things are slow, we got content for you. Our team thought it a great idea to start reviewing previous (but timely) episodes of our show during the times that Mista Yu is away from the microphone. All of these episodes (or beautiful Blasts from the Past) were previously broadcasted but we are sharing them with you for a time that you might need it most. It seems like people are neglecting their health in some really harmful ways these days. I felt like this episode would be a great support to those that might be in that category. Hope you enjoy this beautiful blast from the past!
SEND US A TEXT. Drop Mista Yu a text at: (904) 867-4466 or (https://www.buzzsprout.com/twilio/text_messages/2378778/open_sms).
Leave your first name and the city you're reaching out to us from. We'll respond to your message on the next Fan Mail episode and give you the biggest shoutout. Every message you send to me matters. Your questions spark important conversations not just for you, but for our entire community of listeners navigating similar challenges.

We can't wait to hear from you!
Thanks again for listening to one-on-one with Mr U and your Inspiration Station. I'm really excited about today's episode and a chance to share another compelling story with all of you that I really hope changes your tomorrow. Let's not waste another minute, let's get into it. What's up everybody? Thank you for joining us on our very first episode of they Call Me, mr you. I am your illustrious and very grateful host, mr you Ha. Guys, we thank you so much for joining us. I'm excited. This is incredible.
Speaker 1:If you only knew how long and how hard it was to get to this place to give you guys this first episode of they Call Me, mr you, it would blow your mind. You wouldn't even believe it. You wouldn't even believe it, but we're grateful to be here. We're thankful for all of our supporters, all those that have been joining us up to this point on our social media platforms on Facebook, twitter, instagram and on our website, theycallmemrucom. We just want to just say thank you, thank you for the encouragement. It's coming through text and phone calls and emails, but we just thank you for the encouragement. Thank you for standing up for us and believing that this could be possible, and it may not be a big deal to some of you guys who may be familiar with podcast and listen to podcast, but for us it's groundbreaking, it's monumental, and we just want to just say thank you to everybody that's been a part of this, that is supporting us through this process. Thank you so much, one of the things that I definitely want to say before we begin to get into our episode for today.
Speaker 1:I want to just encourage you guys to know that this is not designed to be, nor do I intend it to be, in just another podcast. They call me Mr you is the name of the podcast, but this podcast is not about me. This podcast will highlight a heavy dose of my experiences, my weird brand of humor yes, I am a bit weird candid stories about my life, my slip ups, my victories, my great joys, but at the end of the day, our focus is going to be very clear and very directed. We're focusing on overall health. Please don't be confused by that. We may discuss fantasy football one week. We may discuss marriage, we may discuss gardening and cooking and small business ownership, but at the end of the day, it is going to definitely relate to some aspect of our overall health. As we get into the episode, I'll explain a little bit more about why that is and where that came from. So thanks again for joining us and giving us about 30 minutes of your time today. We really appreciate it. Every week we're going to try to give you the best content possible. So we thank you for trusting in me as your coach today to get you back in the game and kind of help you make some wins today. So we just thank you for that.
Speaker 1:So what is they Call Me, mr you, all about? Is it all about Yousef or is it about something more? Well, they Call Me Mr you was essentially born through a traumatic near-death experience that I had last year. Now, although I've been a blogger for over 12 years now and I've been writing my entire life. What spawned? They Call Me Mr you as it pertains to a podcast, as it pertains to being a voice to some folks that may not have one.
Speaker 1:I had that experience where I, my wife, was at a meeting one Friday night and I believe it's Wednesday night, excuse me and I was actually on the floor, passed out. My blood pressure rose to about 153, over 90, something to that degree the doctor said it was. Essentially I was 0.2 miles away from a stroke or even worse. So she rushed me to the hospital and we found out what was going on. We found out why my blood pressure shot up the way it did. It was a combination of things that were going on with me physically, but what happened was that that moment of of kind of almost essentially seeing my life flash before my eyes, knowing in my mind that I didn't accomplish anywhere close to the things that I wanted to accomplish.
Speaker 1:I was, even at that point, unfulfilled. I was unhappy with my job. I was unhappy with where my life was headed. I was unhappy with my finances. I was unhappy with where my life was headed. I was unhappy with my finances. I was unhappy with my physical health and my weight. I was unhappy with a lot of things mentally and in every other way, and that honestly began to cause some questions in me. What were you willing to change to have what you want? What are we willing to do to accomplish your goals? How far would you go to see these goals realized? And having that near-death experience?
Speaker 1:It made me think about situations that happened years prior losing a grandmother to dementia and Alzheimer's Probably my best friend at the time and to look at her in her eyes and she looked at me and not even know my name To lose a father who I was just getting ready to really get to know and he died of a sudden aneurysm in his brain, and then to have family members that had been fighting cancer. From all accounts, they're winning the battle, but it's still a battle. It's still something that can befall anybody at any time. And then you add to this a couple of close family members that we lost to COVID this year. And then all that's going on with the pandemic and all the hundreds of thousands of lives that are being lost due to this virus. It has to make you think about your mortality. It has to make you think about where your life is. It has to make you think about purpose and are you being the best that you can be? Are you doing the most that you can do? That's what spawned they Call Me Mr you as a podcast.
Speaker 1:I was always writing articles trying to encourage, enlighten and educate my friends and family and followers. But that's what's fun the podcast. I wanted to be a voice, not because I'm a self-help guru I'm not. Not because I'm a doctor I'm not. I don't even have a doctorate, but I have enough experience and enough God-given wisdom to know that, without my overall health, a lot of other things pale in importance, and that's what I wanted the podcast to become.
Speaker 1:We're going to have fun. We're going to enjoy each other, we're going to have great conversations. We're going to talk about things that we like, things that we love and things that we hate. We're going to discuss it all. Everything's going to be on the table. It may not be a topic that we want to talk about. We might talk about marriage and politics. We may talk about a whole bunch of different things. At the end of the day, it's going to definitely relate back to our overall health because, in my opinion, in the opinion of your coach, that's the most important focus we need to have, and we're going to talk about that a little bit further as we get into this episode.
Speaker 1:So, what's been going on with you guys? How have you been handling 2020? How has 2020 been handling you? Are you learning anything about yourself during this time? Sometimes, adversity has the ability to be the greatest teacher. Are you learning about you right now? Are your fingers pointed at somebody else and what they're doing or not doing? What are you doing right so far? Where have you clearly gotten it wrong this time? It's time for some self-evaluation. It's time to start thinking about some things differently. What lessons are you learning during this time?
Speaker 1:One of the things that I care about when it comes to they Call Me Mr you and this podcast is that I want to speak to the people who are dealing with an unfulfilled life. Speak to the people who are dealing with an unfulfilled life, people who know that they need help, but they've been too prideful or too ashamed to ask for it. It's not that we have all the answers here they call me Mr you but we may have resources, we may have friends that can help. We may have somebody in our network that may have an answer. So that's why we definitely stressing an interactive relationship. I can talk to you about my life stories all day long. I have plenty of them. I can feel hundreds and hundreds of hours of episodes and podcasts. It wouldn't be hard at all, but I want your guys involved. I want you guys to be a part of this. So I want it to be interactive.
Speaker 1:So I'm going to reference our social media handles, probably more than once Our Facebook page at theycallmemisteryou. That's also where we have a Facebook group, a Facebook community that I so love, called the Mirror Time Community. We deal with self-reflection. We talk about the topics that we discussed in articles that are published on the call me, mr Youcom, or the podcast episode that we talk about, such as this one. We talk about that in a safe space. We have very strict rules about behavior and content and and and the things that we say and how we communicate with each other. We're very strict about that, but it's a very safe space. I definitely invite you to join us in our Maritime community on Facebook. We love that.
Speaker 1:If you guys are Twitter users at TCM, mr U at TCM, m-i-s-t-a-y-u, please leave your questions for us on Twitter. We'd love to hear some of your thoughts and perhaps at the end of every episode on our podcast, we may even share some of your tweets. Let our audience know what you've been talking about, what you've been thinking, maybe even share some of your stories and experiences. Whatever you decide to share on Twitter, as well as Instagram at theycallmemisteryou, please also feel free to use that. We definitely share some of those ideas and thoughts you may have there as well. So here we are. We're in 2020.
Speaker 1:And now, health is one of the biggest issues we can face. I definitely want to emphasize that. I also want to emphasize that I care about the whole person. If you go onto our website, theycallmemisterucom, on the blog page, you'll see pinned at the top, the premier article, meaning that's the one that tells you all about us. It tells you what our goal is with this podcast. It tells you what our goal is with this company and with the articles that we write. It tells you what the plan is. It breaks it down.
Speaker 1:We're going to discuss the five fingers of health Physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, financial. If you ever had an injury to your hand before, whether it be a pinky or a thumb, you realize how difficult it is to do anything with that hand. It's hard to put on your socks. It's hard to button or unbutton your pants. It's hard to turn a doorknob. It's hard to cook. It's hard to pick up objects with that hand, all because of one finger. It almost immobilizes the entire hand. All because of one finger. It almost immobilizes the entire hand. It doesn't negate it entirely, but it limits its effectiveness. It's not much different than the five fingers of health that we'll be discussing throughout this episode and in future episodes.
Speaker 1:The five fingers of health are physical, spiritual, mental, emotional and financial. I don't know about you, but anytime I've had a challenge in one of those areas, I've come to find out that it usually is a challenge in the other areas as well, just like with that human hand. So we're going to be discussing that at length and don't be thrown off by the episode topics or the topics or the articles that we, that I write. Don't be thrown off by that. We can be talking about cooking, which I have a strong background in. I used to be a chef at some at one point in time. I still cook, but things have changed a little bit with that. Marriage, gardening, sports and family, fantasy, football, excuse me Entrepreneurship, parenting, parenting these are all things that we're going to talk about. These are all things we're going to discuss at the end of the day, towards the end of the conversation, towards the end of the episode.
Speaker 1:It's always going to point back to one of these fingers of health. Yes, I'm advocating we should definitely support all five, we should definitely nourish and strengthen all five fingers of health, but every episode is going to point back to that. I want to encourage you again. It's time to get back in the game. This is not the time to give up. It feels like an easier option, but it's not the time to give up. It's time to get back. It feels like an easier option, but it's not the time to give up. It's time to get back in the game. I'm your coach. I'm going to try to help you out with that.
Speaker 1:So are you just starting to pay attention to your health? What's causing that sudden revelation that your health is important? Is it watching what's going on with the pandemic? Is it personal experiences that are very close to you that's happening like it happened to me? What Is it personal experiences that are very close to you that's happening Like it happened to me? What's causing you to start paying more attention to your health lately? Also, which finger have you neglected the most? Some people focus on financial and they forget all about their physical health. They forget all about their emotional health. Which is the finger that you have honestly neglected the most? Feel free to share that with us on our Facebook page, as they call me, mr U, as well as on Twitter at TCM Mr U. We'd love to hear your thoughts, and again at the end of every episode. If we have some tweets or some posts that we'll share. We'll definitely share your stories and share your questions here on our podcast.
Speaker 1:So what's your part in this process? You know what they Call Me, mr. You is all about now. You know where to find us on our website at theycallmemisteryoucom. You know where to find our podcast, also at the same location. What's your part in this process? What part do you play? What's your role? I'm sure you part. Do you play? What's your role? I'm sure you can find a podcast where the person is just talking and you're just listening. Sounds pretty simple and easy, doesn't require much from you, but just your attention, if you provide all of that. But I'm asking for something different today. Stay with us, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1:Hey guys, it's Mr U. You know how much Mr U loves his coffee. I think I found the answer for all you guys that are health conscious but still love coffee strong coffee company 15 grams of high quality protein. Check sustained energy throughout the day. Speaker 1:Much of you, if you don't already know me personally, but if you have read, already know me personally. But if you have read any of our articles, you know that my background although I have an extensive background in a lot of different areas I guess I'm a jack of all trades. I've been a music and recording artist, a singer and songwriter. I've been in the corporate world doing administration and operations for the government. I've done a lot of things. I've been a chef in restaurants here in the Charleston, south Carolina area. I've done a lot of things, but one of the things that I have done and still do beside my writing and beside authoring books, one of the things that I still do is I still mentor and coach. Usually the coaching relates to things of a personal nature relationships, self-reflection, but also business coaching. I help coach entrepreneurs who want to build a business or who want to build a business for the first time. So coaching and mentoring is kind of at the core of what I do most, but your part in the process is pretty critical.
Speaker 1:I can talk to you for 30 minutes about pretty much anything. I have loads of stories and experiences to share, but I want your involvement. That's why I gave you our social media handles. I want you to be involved. I want you to share your questions, share your experiences, if you feel comfortable doing that. Share your stories. If it's okay with you, I'll share those on the air every week, every episode. I'll share them in our community, our Maritime community, at TheyCallMeMrU on Facebook. I want you guys to be involved.
Speaker 1:This is interactive. I want you to share your ideas for future articles that I'm going to write. I want you to share your ideas for future podcast episodes. What are we going to talk about? What would you like us to talk about? What's going to be enriching and fulfilling to you that your coach talks about on this weekly podcast? We'd love to hear your thoughts on that.
Speaker 1:So what's your part in the process? It's pretty simple to me, but I'll share it right now. First, listen to the podcast. Every week. We're going to bring content to you and we're going to try to be a voice in your ears but be valuable to you during this time. So hopefully our podcasts strike a nerve. Hopefully our podcasts meet a need. We hope they're encouraging and enlightening and educational. So we're hoping the podcast is doing that for you. If nothing else, maybe I make you laugh, perhaps I'll make you think I don't want to make you cry, but if that happens, this is us being honest, this is us being family, this is us being community. What's your part in the process?
Speaker 1:Read the articles. There's over 200 articles out there on theycallmemisteryoucom right now. Yeah, that's a lot of reading, but it gives you so much insight and I really believe with all my heart that in one of those articles is a nugget that's there just for you to speak to the problem that you currently are dealing with or that you have dealt with and still haven't found the answer to. I believe one of those articles is going to help encourage you, help put you in the right direction. So there's a lot of articles out there. By all means, please subscribe on our same page at theycallmemisteryoucom and get those new articles to your email inbox when they come out but read the articles that are already there. Read what's already been published. I pray it really helps you out. So take a look at that.
Speaker 1:Ask questions. That's what I want the social media handles to be used for. Ask us questions, share your experiences, share your stories. Stay connected.
Speaker 1:Honestly, I learned through my medical situation, but also through other life experiences, especially this year, that this really works best if you get involved. We accomplish a lot more together than we do alone. This is spoken from somebody who was a renowned lone wolf. I didn't like asking for help. I was proud. I thought I didn't like asking for help. I was proud. I thought I can do it on my own. A bit selfish, and I thought that I can do it better than the person I was asking for help from or I could ask for help from. But I realized today maybe it's my old age, maybe it's just wisdom, but I know I can't do life alone and you know what? Neither can you. So we're in this together. I'm encouraging you guys to get back in the game. I'm your coach and I want to help you. Today. We can do much more together than we can by ourselves.
Speaker 1:So use those social media handles on Twitter at TCM M-I-S-T-A-Y-U TCM Mr U. On Twitter, on Instagram or Facebook at they call me Mr U M-I-S-T-A-Y-U. Use those social media handles, reach out to us, comment on the articles on theycallmemisterucom. We'd love to hear your thoughts, love to hear your thoughts. We'd love to hear your insights. If there's something you don't agree with, we'd love to hear that too.
Speaker 1:Let's engage some discussion, let's talk about it, but let's have fun, let's learn from each other, let's grow. It's one of the things that, if I looked around, if I put all of the country in a big picture or the world in a big picture that's what I would say. I was giving a message to the entire world. We can learn so much from each other if we just listen to each other, we just actively listen to each other. We learn so much that we didn't know, we realize how small our view is in our own minds. So let's use these opportunities that we have today, our social media handles, our Facebook community at Maritime Community and let's begin to support each other. Let's share, let's network.
Speaker 1:One of the things that we're definitely going to do during our time together and you'll see that in coming weeks we're going to do, we're going to use some of those experiences that I've had, like, for example, I told you I used to be a chef, so we're definitely going to share recipes the healthy recipes and perhaps maybe the not-so-healthy ones. We'll try to keep those to a minimum Gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian recipes. Some fun recipes for the kids videos of me cooking in my kitchen. I might want to rethink that one. Exercise tips quarantine and non-quarantine exercise tips for those that can't afford or don't want to utilize a gym membership right now. We'll be dealing with that. I may even be gutsy enough to do some fitness challenges. No promises, but you never know.
Speaker 1:We're going to talk about all the five fingers of health. We're going to share ideas. We're going to share gardening tips. Yeah, garden, believe it or not. We're going to talk about music, entrepreneurship, even social justice and politics those heavy hitters. We're going to talk about music, entrepreneurship, even social justice and politics those heavy hitters. We're going to talk about marriage. Any sports fans out there? We can talk about sports too. Talk about how your team is doing. We're going to talk about a little bit of everything, because all of those things that we engage in, all those things that we connect with, guess what? They all have a part or a role to play in our overall health. They all make a difference in that area. So I want to encourage you guys stay in the process, stay in the game.
Speaker 1:I don't know what you're going through. I want to take the time just to speak to you. That person who has been pretty close to giving up, that person has said nobody cares, I'm in this alone. Listen to those voices that say this is the end. You can't do any more than this.
Speaker 1:I'm here to say to you that you can do exceedingly and above, above all, you can ever ask or think because of the power that lives inside of you. You're better than what you think you are. You can be more successful and more purposeful than you think you are. And although it may seem as though you're by yourself, you might even be in isolation, but honestly, somebody else is going through the same exact thing you're going through. I've seen it a million times. You're never really by yourself. You never really even alone in your own struggle. Somebody else may have the answer, somebody may have come out on the other side of it and can live to tell about it. You're not by yourself. And what I'm hoping that they call me Mr you will do for you and do for us as a whole is allow us to know that, that we don't have to do life alone. We're not by ourselves. We can accomplish so much more together than we can by ourselves.
Speaker 1:So please use our social media platforms, reach out, share your questions, share your experiences. If I have your consent, I'll share those tweets and experiences on the air. We'll get through this together, like we always have and like we always will. We got the victory. As a matter of fact, it's all the games already won. So, guys, please don't quit, don't give up. Get back in the game. So, for all you guys that didn't hear, please don't quit, don't give up, get back in the game. So, for all you guys that didn't hear, please check us out on our social media handles Twitter at TCM M-I-S-T-A-Y-U, on Instagram and Facebook at TheyCallMeMrU, or go to our website they call me Mr you dot com. Check out our articles and our podcast there.
Speaker 1:Guys, we appreciate you so much. We thank you so much for your time today. Thank you for allowing us to be at a place where we can do this first episode. We're so excited. We're excited about what's coming next.
Speaker 1:Who knows, next week might be our next interview. Who knows, next week might be our next interview. Who knows, next week your tweet might be the one that we start the show off with or end the show with. Your story might be the highlight of our episode. You never can tell. But whatever we're doing, whatever we're going to accomplish every week, we're going to do it together and you're a big part of that. So thanks for being part of the process. Thank you for supporting me here at theycallmemisterucom. We appreciate you guys. Thank you so much. Have a fantastic week. This is Mr U out Out. Hi, it's Mr U.
